Sekiten for Children
The "Sekiten" is a ritual event that make an offering and deify Confucius and his deisciples, and is held every November 23 at Historical Site Ashikaga Gakko (School) by Ashikaga Gakko Sekiten Preservation Commitee.
Today, it is very rare event that remains in only a few places in Japan, such as Yushima Cathedral in Tokyo.
"Children`s Sekiten" is carried out for the purpose of learning importance of nurturing local love and passing on traditional culture by having elementary and junior high school students in the city experience such traditional Ashikaga events.
*Prior application is required to participate.
