Mayudama-ichi (Cocoon Ball Festival)
It is said that this festival of Tokushouji Temple that enshrines Kokuzo Bodhisattva started from the time when Kokuzo-do (Building of enshrine Kokuzo Bodhisattva) was restored in 1739.
In the olden days, it was an event for sericulture families, praying "May silkworms and cocoons grow safely", but from the time textiles became popular, people became to pray "weaving textiles and the family business should flourish".
Mayudama is sold on the approach of the temple in hopes of prosperous business, and is crowded with many people every year.
Kokuzo is the guardian deity of the Cow year and Tiger year.
