Orihime Shrine New Year Festival (Event for seeing Sunrise on New Year's Day)

At Ashikaga Orihime Shrine, they hold an event for seeing Sunrise on New Year's Day on Juanuary 1st.
All people who gathered in precincts dedicate `Banzai Sansyo` (Give the Three Cheers) for the sunrise togerther with the New Year's Shinto rituals.

In addition, the `Kigan Daiko` (prayer drum) is played.
On the day of event, Japanese drum performance is held and Shinto Priests burn the old Charms with praying. We call it `Otakiage`.

We illuminate the shrine and accept the shrine rituals through the night from New Year's Eve to New Year's Day and celebrate the New Year.
